During the 2014 fall semester, I took the Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication course called Digital Rhetoric. Through this course, my classmates and I began the student-directed project called "The Shenandoah Living Archive." The experimental digital archive is designed to encourage JMU students, faculty, and members of the local community to document life in the Shenandoah Valley. The project is a JMU Libraries & Educational Technologies initiative that is designed to include interactive exhibits of born-digital items such as oral histories, video, and geospatial projects as well as physical materials such as flyers, pamphlets, and diaries.
Throughout the semester, I worked on two teams. I was on a developmental team that created an interactive exhibit for an 1855 cookbook from the Shenandoah Valley as well as the branding/marketing team. On the branding/marketing team, I became a student marketing director and a vital part to planning and executing the prototype reveal event.
