Let's build a website.
During the 2016 spring semester, I took the one-credit course called Web Design for Learning. This course helps students develop an intermediate understanding of the principles of web design including the use of html and design templates. Please feel free to look at the work I collected over this eight-week course.
Microsoft Office PowerPoint Design Artifact
Please click on the logo to view the Powerpoint slides. On Microsoft Powerpoint, I created a powerpoint presentation on Jerome Bruner and the Discovery Learning Model. I focused on designing a powerpoint that reflected a clean, minimalistic design. However, I made sure the reader could understand the information too and not become overwhelmed with the background design and such. I also chose not to overload the reader with too many graphics and/or icons. Therefore, I spent time on editing the content to minimize wordiness to reflect the minimalistic theme. |
Adobe Presenter Artifact
Please click on the logo to view the Presenter. For this artifact, I created a presentation that allows users to navigate and control the presentation. The Presenter is interactive and scrolls on its own like a video, but users can go back to material if need be. For this presentation, I chose a color scheme paired with a simple geometric design. This choice emphasizes the content more than the design so learners have the ability to focus on the important information, but also be intrigued by the design. |
Adobe Captivate Artifact
Please click on the logo to view the Captivate. For the Captivate artifact, I chose to create a fully interactive presentation for users. For this presentation, users have the ability to learn the material though reading and listening, and they can navigate if they choose too. I also provided many visuals in this presentation so users could visually understand the topic too. Since my topic is educational, I chose a colorful scheme complemented it with a sans-serif for readability. |
HTML and CSS Artifact
Please click on the logo to download the HTML and CSS files. As I'm still a beginner with HTML and CSS, I chose to keep this artifact in the beginning stages. I created a page that included organized information, images, and videos. I included the Lato font family in the CSS to provide some readability for users and used different paragraph settings to help users differentiate between information. I also left-aligned the information to guide the readers down the page to each section. If I had more time to go back and work on this, I would include some color and interactivity for the users to encourage a better learning experience. |
